What Is The Seal Hunt?
The seal hunt is a commercial hunt that takes place each year, mainly in eastern Canada and other arctic territories. During this period, the coast guard guides hunters onto sea ice to kill seals, most of which very young harp seal pups, for nothing more than their almost-worhtless blood-stained fur.
Harp seal pups are born on the ice and depend on their mothers for survival. When the hunt begins, many are still only weeks old. The hunt is not necessary for food security and exists largely for profit, despite widespread opposition from scientists, animal welfare experts, and the public. Backed primarily by government subsidies, it is a weak industry that is entirely dependent on federal support.
We promise you this isn't a website filled with the horror exposing "the reality of" the commercial seal hunt. This is a memorial, one built by a teenager who could not look away from a cruel, unsustainable and inhumane "tradition".
For decades, this hunt has raised serious concerns about animal suffering, enforcement, and ethics — and yet it continues today. That is what this is about. This is a statement, one about advocacy and compassion for all living beings...

This corner of the internet is dedicated to the millions of baby seals that never reached the ocean.
Never grew up,
Had their entire lives ahead of them,
but instead got clubbed to death for nothing more than profit & waste;
And haven't got to live their lives as free beings...
This website is a testimony to the importance of harp seals. It shines one last light on the millions of baby seals that never had a voice. Those who had to run from cruelty but never made it.
This work is for the baby seals who's friends have been lost,
The mothers who's babies have been lost forever,
The seals that have had to either run or watch their friends bleed out in excruciating pain
- knowing they would be next...
Those who spent their last moments on earth in fear, confusion and pain.
This is for those who's last vision of home was their own bloodtrail,
— those who died as a result of paths we should not have taken...
Will you take just a couple of minutes for these seals? They deserved better, and you can help save the(ir) future generations from this unaccepable cruelty...

This website was brought to you by The WildlifeoPedia Initiative (main website). We launched this to align with the start of the annual commercial seal hunt in Canada on April 6, 2026. We will continuously strive to improve this memoir.
